The MicroPLC is a compact open-source automation controller designed for smart home, building, and industrial automation applications. It serves as a central hub for controlling devices and extension modules, enabling local and distributed automation through wired RS-485 Modbus and wireless connectivity. Built on the ESP32-WROOM-32U and fully compatible with ESPHome, the MicroPLC allows seamless integration with Home Assistant and other platforms. It manages input/output operations, handles real-time control logic, and provides interfaces for sensors, relays, and digital inputs, making it ideal for lighting, HVAC, irrigation, and general-purpose automation tasks.

The MicroPLC includes an ESP32-Wroom-32U microcontroller with built-in Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity for wireless integration, and it communicates with external modules over RS‑485 using the Modbus RTU protocol. A USB Type-C port is provided for programming and debugging, while configurable front-panel buttons and LED indicators allow local interaction and status monitoring. The unit features a PCF8563 real-time clock (RTC) for precise time-based automation and a dedicated 1-Wire interface with overvoltage and ESD protection for digital temperature sensors. It includes a high-quality industrial relay with varistor protection and optical isolation for switching loads safely, as well as a 24 VDC digital input using the ISO1212 IC to ensure robust signal processing with surge protection. The controller is designed for DIN-rail mounting, offering a compact and modular solution for scalable automation projects.
